Document Recovery

After a disaster, we act immediately to prevent further damage to your vital documents, records, books, film and negatives – even rare books and manuscripts. Our primary method, freeze-drying, is the most effective way to minimize damage. Our services include inventory and pack out, blast-freezing, freeze-drying, desiccant dehumidification, sterilization, deodorization and cleaning and reproduction.

PBI uses freeze drying, the most successful method for drying large collections, to prevent further damage to valuable documents. Freeze drying is the least aggressive method for drying historic artifacts, preventing papers from sticking and stoping soluble inks from running. Our document and media recovery services include:

  • Damage assessment, inventory and pack out
  • Blast freezing to stabilize documents
  • Freeze drying
  • Desiccant dehumidification of film and magnetic media
  • Sterilization and deodorization
  • Cleaning and reproduction
